[youtube Lc8uRFVwLME 585] Flying Paper is the uplifting story of Palestinian youth in the Gaza Strip on a quest to shatter the Guinness World Record for the most kites flown at once. The upcoming feature-length film is directed by Nitin Sawhney and Roger Hill and co-produced with a team of young filmmakers in Gaza. One size does NOT fit all. Alana Muller, of FastTrac discusses the many types and unique needs of entrepreneurs in the United States. 3 Lessons Learned from Women Entrepreneurs in Lebanon

As we have worked with women entrepreneurs in Lebanon over the past year, we have had many great lessons learned. We would like to share our top three lessons learned with you! 1.    Each Entrepreneur Faces Their Own Unique Challenges When working with entrepreneurs with little or no real business experience, assessment is critical. We spent a great deal of time assessing and reassessing our women to ensure that we provided them with the tools and skills that they need, both generally and unique to their business idea/needs. Using this process, we were able to ensure that we provided our Continue reading…

Rakan’s Journey

When we last spoke to Rakan, his initiative was just starting. During the last three weeks, Rakan has made great progress with his Get to Know Palestine initiative. Rakan is a youth participant of the Youth Action Local Leadership Alliance (YALLA), a youth-led civic engagement program for youth ages 12-21. Get to know Palestine is designed to improve  tourism in Palestine and to let people from everywhere – both near and far – know more about Palestine. Women’s Equality Day

Women’s and girls’ equality with men and boys should be an uncompromising human right globally. Our programming at TYO perpetually tries to instill in our women and girls that they are the key to ensuring the development and prosperity of their community. However, before they can make monumental changes at a community level, they must first realize their potential and channel it to become empowered and free women. It is only once they reach this level of confidence that they can then wholly contribute to their families and community at-large. TYO understands the need for inclusion in order to acknowledge the importance of gender Continue reading…

When Joy and Grief Meet

Joy and grief, that space between is not so far apart. It’s actually intertwined. And I know that can be scary. I get that. But it can also give you freedom. There’s freedom in knowing you can carry joy and grief together. There’s freedom in knowing you don’t need closure to heal. -Nancy Berns The Women’s Group (TWG) will enter its fourth session in a couple of weeks, and as I wrack my brain about what it is that has brought us growing success each session the answer is clear; TYO is a place where women in Nablus can congregate Continue reading…
